Bunny Envy
Why can’t I be like the Energizer Bunny?
I admit before the whole world (well, my readership) that I am jealous of the Energizer Bunny. It would probably make sense if I were envious of Bunnies from the ’60s and ’70s–those ladies were sexy and had great bodies. It would even be understandable if I were jealous of real bunnies for living easy lives in exchange for simply being fuzzy and cute. Heck, there’s even reason to be jealous of the Easter Bunny for making everyone happy with chocolates each spring. But the Energizer Bunny?
It makes no sense, I know. He’s Pepto-Bismol pink and carries a drum much too large for his small frame. Despite these burdens, he’s good at his job. I’m truly amazed how the Energizer Bunny can just go on and on and on thanks to the miracle of a common battery. He keeps the beat, never faltering, and continues for hours on end with no signs of tiring or slowing down. And let’s not forget he has those cool shades.
When I was a kid, all the adults around me said I had so much energy it was as if I had a motor in my behind, causing me to run all over the place non-stop. Well, the motor is aging and beginning to ever so slightly sputter. I’m sure I’m not the only one with a sputtering motor. Wouldn’t you agree that it would be nice to be like the Energizer Bunny and just pop a battery in your thigh to have all the energy to keep on going without having to take a break? Just imagine how much more we could accomplish in a day. The possibilities are endless.
So, yes. With the exception of performing the same task and repetitive motion, the Energizer Bunny is to be envied in my opinion. Why wouldn’t anyone want to have the energy to keep on going and going?
Why, indeed.
I miss the energy of my childhood and teenage years. I can’t believe my brother and I were able to participate in so many activities while still maintaining pretty good grades in school. Where did that energy go after college? o.O I guess entering the real world brings with it many challenges that can diminish optimism. Optimism tends to feed energy. So, if we can find a way to stay optimistic, we find a way to stay energized.
You make such a good point, Mayen! Optimism can definitely feed our energy, not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. Unfortunately, not all people are positive thinkers, though, so a question to ponder is how can we get optimistic? Hmmm…
